A presentation was made at each of the campuses in the District to update the Site Committee, whose purpose it is to represent the greater campus community, on the status of the project implementation process. To date, Huntington Beach City School District and BCA Architects (bond program manager) have identified prioritization for the projects that will be undertaken. A 21st Century demonstration classroom has been designed in collaboration with OnPoint Innovative Learning Environments and schematic design for the Phase 1 projects commenced.

In early May, BCA Architects met with the Site Committees to present the scopes and initial designs for the Phase 1 projects and collect feedback from the participants. This information will be used to ratify the design options which will be presented to the Board for final approval of the schematic design options on May 16, 2017. Phase 1 projects are a combination of tasks that fulfill the district-wide priority 1 and 2 needs, and are scheduled to be completed between 2017 and 2020. Generally, this includes developing 21st Century demonstration classrooms and life/safety improvements.
