21st Century Demonstration Classrooms

Sowers Middle School

Project Overview

Huntington Beach City School District is committed to being a model for 21st Century education. As such, classrooms were transformed across the District into innovative student-centered spaces that support collaboration and flexibility.

Classroom P7 (Core 8) and Classroom P10 (Grades 6th-8th Math) were designated at Isaac L. Sowers Middle School to be renovated and serve as a learning lab. OnPoint Innovative Learning Environments and Studio W Architects have engaged each of the demonstration classroom teachers to guide them through the design and functional concepts that will be integrated into their space. Upon completion in Fall 2017, OnPoint administered professional development related to the new technology and equipment that was installed to support and administer curriculum.

The demonstration classrooms were used to elicit and gather feedback from the educators, which served as the framework to transform all of the classrooms across the District into innovative 21st Century learning environments.
