21st Century Demonstration Classrooms

Dwyer Middle School

Project Overview

Huntington Beach City School District is committed to being a model for 21st Century education. As such, classrooms were transformed across the District into innovative student-centered spaces that support collaboration and flexibility.

Classroom 106 (Core 8) and Classroom 219 (Math 6 & Leadership) were designated at Ethel R. Dwyer Middle School to be renovated and serve as learning labs. OnPoint Innovative Learning Environments and Studio W Architects engaged the demonstration classroom teachers to guide them through the design and functional concepts that were integrated into their spaces. Upon completion in Fall 2017, OnPoint administered professional development related to the new technology and equipment that was installed to support and administer curriculum.

The demonstration classrooms were used to elicit and gather feedback from the educators, which served as the framework to transform all the classrooms across the District into innovative 21st Century learning environments.
